Manufacturer Part Number WP3149400
This surface burner element switch is for an 8-inch surface burner on an oven, stove, or range. The element switch controls the heat of the surface burner. Disconnect power to your range before completing this repair because you will be working closely with electrical circuits. Remove the screws from back panel and the console, and remove the console to expose the switch. It is recommended to check for overheating or arcing on the wiring harness in case they need to be replaced as well. The harness that connects to the switch features a slip-on terminal for easy installation.

Manufacturer Part Number WP7403P239-60
This infinite switch is for 8-inch range burners. When an element is unable to produce any heat on a modern oven, the problem may lie with the infinite switch. This switch is responsible for sending power to the surface elements. Check the element and terminal block to ensure they are working properly. If they are in working order, check the infinite switch at the control panel for any wires that have overheated, or broken terminals to or from the infinite switch. If the infinite switch is damaged or malfunctioning, it will need to be replaced. Remember to unplug your range before beginning this repair.

Amana Range Surface Element Switch

PartSelect Number PS12070192
Manufacturer Part Number W10900107
A surface element switch, also known as a burner/infinite switch, is a device used to control and regulate the heat output of the burners on a stovetop or cooktop. This switch is controlled with a knob on the user interface of the cooktop or stovetop and is adjustable by the user. This burner switch is compatible with various ranges and cooktops and is a genuine OEM part that is sold with all of the necessary hardware to secure it, such as the Philips-head and flat-head screws, brackets, bolts, washers, palnuts (also known as a push-on nut) and terminals. Over time, this switch can wear out or become faulty, leading to heating issues for your stovetop and cooktop, such as not heating, overheating, or staying at the same heat level. Depending on the orientation of your cooktop, you will need to install this switch with or without the bracket and palnut, so reference your user manual for that information when replacing this switch. You will need a screwdriver and set of pliers during the replacement and installation process, and simply need to follow the instruction manual included with this switch to correctly replace and rewire it.

Old infinity switch on electric rangetop did not work correctly
Lifted range top, disconnected and labled wires from old switch, removed old switch, replaced wires on new switch, installed new switch.
NOTE: Local appliance store informed me that the electric cooktop was too old and that a replacement switch was not available and wanted to sell me a new cooktop for $795!
I found the switch on PartSelect and repaired the cooktop. Total cost... UNDER THIRTY DOLLARS!!

Outer element of dual element burner didn't work
Remove Ceran Galss top by removing hex screws below the rim. Also remove the two opposing screws in the center of the downdraft opening. Ceran top comes off easily now.
The instructions with the new switch were very poorly written, so here is how I got the new switch to work:
Attach the black wire(s) from the old switch (terminal 2) to the new switch terminal P1. Also attach the jumper cable to P1 and "jump" it to S1.

Attach the orange wire (old switch terminal 5) to S2
Attach the yellow wire (old switch terminal 4) to 4a
Attach the tan/(white?) wire (old switch terminal 3) to terminal 4 on the new switch
Attach the single red wire from the right front element to terminal 2 on the new switch.
Attach the 'compound' red wires (the ones that come from the left rear/outlet connection and is also attached to the right rear switch) to terminal P2 on the new switch.
There is no need to seperate the compound red wires as the instructions might lead you to believe.
Good Luck

center element of triple burner was not working.
I pulled the unit out from the wall. Took the screws out along the sides. Removed screw holding the front controls loose. First I changed the control switch which was very easy. Two screws and a couple of wires. The burner was a bit more tricky. I had propped the glass cook top up so I would not have to disconnect to many wires. Took out the screws holding the burner in place and disconnected the wires. I removed the clips from the old burner and attatched them to the new burner, then reinstalled the new burner. The only real problem was the wires. I forgot the order of a couple of them. I was able to check on line and get the correct order. Read more...

PartSelect Number PS11744018

This part has been updated by the manufacturer. This updated part now has 7 wire terminals instead of 5. The terminals are all labeled, however, the new switch needs to be tested before connecting the pilot lamp wire (P). To test the new switch: 1) Connect the Line Wires (L1 and L2), connect the Load Wires (H1 and H2). 2) Do not connect the pilot lamp (P) wire yet. 3) Reconnect the power to the range and turn on the new switch and one other switch. 4) Connect the leads of a volt meter on L1 of the new switch and P of the other switch you turned on. 5) If the volt meter reads 220V, the L1 and L2 wires on the new switch must be reveresed. 6) Disconnect power, reverse Line Wires if needed and connect the P wire. 7) Reconnect power to the range after reassembly.
