The pilot stays lit all the time and, when the oven is turned on, the flame gets bigger and surrounds the thermocouple. When the thermocouple senses the required heat, the safety valve opens to let the gas flow to the oven burner tube where the pilot flame ignites the gas.

Pilot Light Won't Stay Lit
First I removed the oven door by pulling straight up off of the hinges in the open postion. Next remove oven racks,then use 1/4 nutdriver to remove back screws on inside oven bottom plate. Next remove gold nut on silver tube @ pilot connection,then remove 1/4 nuts that hold pilot assembly. Next open top of stove and remove small gold nut "with the thin wire from pilot"attached to the back left of oven control knob. Snake that nut and wire from the top of the stove down to the oven and removethe whole pilot assembly. To install carefully unroll the new pilot assembly starting from the oven "there are two round holes you need to snake the tube into"and up behind the back & into the stove top. Make your connection@ the oven assembly. Next attach the assembly with the 1/4 screws that you removed,then make your connection"gold screw silver tube" now push in your oven control knob to alllow gas to flow to the pilot tube and check for leaks with a water @ soap solution. No bubbles no leaks. Light your pilot . . . . You must hold in the oven knob. Put back in oven plate,,,, 1/4 screws,,,,racks close the stove top ,put door back on hinges and your done. . . . . oven wouldn't heat
My oven was misdiagnosed from an appliance repair company. They said my ignitors and spark module needed to be replaced. I did this myself and still nothing. The problem happened to be a defective gas valve.

First I unplugged the stove and shut off the gas supply. After I disconnected the flex hose and the 2 gas connections behind the stove, I removed the 4 screws that held the valve to the back of the stove.

I went to the front of the appliance and pulled out the bottom drawer. This exposed the valve from the other side. I disconnected the electrical connections (3 colored wires) to the valve and removed it. I re-attached the new valve, putting everything back in reverse order. I made sure the 3 wires were reconnected correctly by labeling each one before disconnecting them. I made certain that my gas connections were sealed by using teflon tape and/or pipe sealant from the hardware store. I turned the shutoff valve back to the on position and checked for leaks. If I smelled gas I snugged it down a bit more until no gas smell was detected.

There was nothing wrong with the ignitors or the spark module. The stove failed to pre-heat and the "tick-tick" I used to hear when the stove was first turned on was nonexistent. What the so-called experts said would be hundreds of dollars to fix unded up being a $90 part. Read more...

REPLACING burner head and ignitor
Remove the screw on the front of each side, also there are two screws holding the burner controls. Remove the burner knobs. There are two screws holding the burner head to the top of the burner panel, looking down on the burner head, these will not come out easily. Here's where the drill comes in. Drill the two screws head off, there are two gas line connections that must be removed, be careful not to twist the gas line. Remove the burner head and replace with the new one. When replacing the burner head, screw the gas line to the burner head first, then to the main gas control. Read more...

needed to replace the main top of stove
First I removes all visible screws. The stove top would not budge. I noticed that the elements had screws holding the top in place. These were difficult to remove and all eight screw broke. I then removed the top. I had to remove the broken screws by drilling them out and re-tapping the threads. This was the single most difficult thing to do and took the most time. Once this was complete, re-installing the top was quite simple.
