Hello, i actually have a few questions, thank you.Do you have a tip to getting the new grommet back into the tank? especially with the three hoses previously installed
it seems i’m having this trouble with the old, original grommet as well. is it possible that this tank has shrunk? it’s a1995 model with few hours on it. it has been hanging in a shed through the texas heat every year .
i don’t want to damage any of the lines or grommet by forcing or using the wrong tool while i loose my cool.
also, if i purchase a new fuel tank, do the screws come with it or separate? if so,
what i is the part #. one of mine is stripped
thank you, artie

Hi Artie,
Thank you for your question. Here are some instructions, that may help you install the grommet. First remove the air cleaner assembly. Loosen the thumb screw and then remove the air cleaner lid. Next remove the air filter. Once you have completed this, empty any excess fuel from the tank. Then unscrew the fuel cap from the fuel tank. Then remove the fuel filter from the fuel line by using a curved wire hook. Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line with a twisting and pulling motion and remove the fuel line clip. Then pull the return fuel line up and out of the tank grommet. Pull the incoming fuel line up and out of the tank grommet and pull the vent line up and out of the tank grommet. Use a screwdriver to carefully pry the grommet out of the fuel tank. Lightly coat the edge of the new grommet with 2-cycle engine oil (this will lubricate the grommet for easier installation). Install the new grommet onto the fuel tank. Use a screwdriver (as needed) to press and seat the grommet into the ridge on the fuel tank. Reinstall the fuel lines and the fuel filter. Then, reinstall the fuel filter into the fuel tank and then install the fuel cap. Reinstall the air filter and place the lid over it and secure it with the thumb screw. We hope this helps! Good luck with the repair!
