This 10 by 5 inch ice maker (Electromechanical Icemaker Kit, Ice Maker Assembly) produces ice. This particular model will produce seven crescent shaped cubes every cycle. It is constructed of plastic and metal, and comes in black/white. This kit includes a set of installation instructions, a 4-pin round plug-in connector, 6 post plug-in connectors, tube and fill cup. The ideal temperature of a freezer is zero degrees Fahrenheit. If the temperature in your freezer is at an appropriate level yet ice is still not being made, it could be an issue with the water inlet valve or your ice maker assembly. If you determine it is the ice maker, this is the replacement you need. The ice maker can break from normal wear and accidental damage. Ice makers will need to be replaced every 3-10 years depending on the frequency of usage and water quality. This model is mounted on the freezer wall.

Two screws held the icemaker on. You do not even have to take them all the way out to remove the IM. Replacement of the water valve was just as easy except they (parts manufacturer) updated the flange nut with a compression fitting and it took me a minute looking at it before I realize what was going on. Ice Dispenser not working properly

The ice dispenser would not dispense cubes. It only dispensed crushed ice. Also the plastic auger was partially broken and it took forever for ice to be dispensed. The auger was easy to figure out that it was broken. The dispenser issue took some time. I removed the ice bin and removed the panel behind it. There was a solenoid that burnt and melted and this did not allow the dispenser door to be controlled. I ordered the parts on a Thursday and they arrived on a Friday. Pretty simple to fix once I knew what the problem was. I could have gotten the parts cheaper from Searsparts.com but their description of parts and their pictures did not match and I wanted to make sure I got the right parts the first time. To be on the safe side I ordered a couple of pins and used one of them. The pin was a little hard to remove from the existing assemble so I put it in a vice and used a small pick and hammered out the old pin. Read more...

The oiginal Ice Bucket auger became rusty and discoloered the ice.

I went on line to find the part. Luckily I found PartSelect.com. All I had to do was enter the model number into the search box and scroll through the list of parts.
I ordered the part over the weekend and recieved it on Tuesday!
All I had to do was remove 4 screws from the original Ice Bucket and attach the new one.
Perfect fit in under 15 minutes!

bucket drive shaft disengaged from motor drive

This is a 25 year old unit. The ice bucket had warped over time causing the face plate to move forward of its ideal position pulling the entire assembly out of the drive. Removed dispensing unit face assembly. Removed drive shaft assembly. Replaced all washers. Reversed old broken drive cup. Married old drive cup to new drive cup...lining up drive slots. Drilled 6 ea. 3mm holes evenly spaced around circumference into the face of the old drive cup. Fastened drive cups together in vice and with C clamp...then using phillips head screws installed 3 ea. from opposing entry points on each side of this homemade shaft extender. This "mechanism" increased the effective length of the dispensing shaft assembly allowing for a proper fit of the drive shaft to the motor drive connection. Unit now works perfectly. Total cost @ $40.00 and two hours work which would have taken less than one hour if I had remembered to install the ice bucket seal the first time. New ice bucket would have cost @ $185.00. Home warranty does not cover ice makers or any of the associated parts. DIY...it isn't that difficult. Read more...
