This part is found in your washer. The pin on the lid pushes on the lever of the lid switch to tell the machine that the lid is closed. This part includes the green grounding wire. If your machine is having trouble starting, is not agitating, spinning, or is not draining properly, this could be because the lid switch has broken. You will need a 5/16-inch nut driver for this repair. The package will contain one lid switch. You will need to access the back of the washer, and remove the two Phillips screws that hold the top back panel in place. Slide the panel forward to release. Use your nut driver to loosen the screw that holds the ground wire in place. Lift the lid of the washer to release the old lid switch.

Washer wouldn't run
I removed the two screws on the back of the control panel. The control panel then flips back. The switch is on the left side. To remove the switch, I first detached the wire to the control panel and unscrewed the grounding wire. The new switch drops right in. I had a little trouble getting it in until I realized the washer lid had to be open. A little awkward but once it's in you can shut the lid and then I reattached the wire from the control panel and screwed in the grounding wire. This switch (Lid Switch Assembly With Leads, Washer Lid Switch, Lid Switch Assembly, Washer Lid Switch) tells the washing machine that the lid is closed, which allows the wash cycle to begin. The lid switch mounts to the underside of the cabinet top panel. The plastic on the actuator can become brittle with age and break when the lid is closed roughly. It can also break from the movement of an unbalanced load causing parts of the washer to strike it. This part must be replaced if it is broken and no longer being activated by closing the lid (indicated by the washer not agitating properly, or the machine not detecting the lid is closed). This switch is black plastic with wire leads. It is sold individually.

Automatic water temperature switch failed
removed two screws and atc knob. swung control panel out. unplugged atc switch. pushed little tab down and turned the switch. it popped out and I put the new one in. plugged the cable back in. repositioned the control panel. replaced the atc knob and turned it to rinse. This part is located behind the control panel. It helps determine the level of water in the washer. As the water fills the hose, while tub is filling, it will push the air against a diaphragm inside the switch. More water that enters the tub, more pressure is applied against the switch.

Washer was not filling with water to proper level (was filling some, not enough)
Ordered part PS3408149 from partselect.com. Lifted Washer control panel with putty knife. Removed hinges (regular screwdriver, used as a crowbar rather than screwdriver) holding control panel to washer body. Moved washer body panel out of the way, and reviewed level sensor/level selector switch. Take handle off front of selector switch. Twist selector switch off from inside (90 degree turn till square inset lines up withsquare hole, then it will come out). Insert new selector switch. Remove old tubing. Fish new tubing through where old tubing was. Cut off extra tubing, then push tubing onto selector switch and tub basin (where old tubing was). Put washer back together. Done. Worked perfectly. Water level switch broke off in the knob.
Unplugged the washer from the power. Turned off the hot and cold water. Took two screws off the back and raised up the upper cover. Took the power cables and water tube loose from the water level switch. Removed the switch. Put the new switch in. Removed two metal clips at the top of the washer and leaned the washer body forward. Replaced the tube with a new one. Put the washer body back in place and put the clips back in. Attached the tube to the new switch along with the power cables. Let the top cover back down and put in the two screws. Slid the new knob in place. Plugged up the washer to the power. Turned the hot and cold water back on. And commenced washing laundry. Water control would only fill to Medium load then stopped altogether
I removed the screws holding the control board in place. Removed the knob on the front of the panel and then disconected the wires to the control. Then I took the old control off the board and inserted the new control. I attached the wire connectors to the new control and put the control panel back in place and fastened it with the screws. Last task was to replace the knob. The new control worked wonderfully with the first load of laundry. Piece of cake. Done in 5 minutes or less. Read more...

washer overflowing
Repair was easy enough by just unlocking the tab and twisting the switch out from under the control panel. For me though, this did not fix my overflowing issue. After more research I found the inlet valve needed to be cleaned out.
