Microwave made loud buzz noise and did not heat
I followed the generic trouble shooting directions on the web site. It suggested either diode, capacitor and/or magnetron. I test each. All tested OK except diode. It was supposed to measure open in one direction and appox 200k ohms in the other direction. My diode measured open in both directions (tried multiple times, multiple settings). I replaced the diode. The order process was great and it shipped immediately. I knew I was in trouble when I measured the new diode and it too was open in both directions. It was easy to install but unfortunately no joy - did not solve the problem. At this point it is likely cheaper just to buy a new one
I broke the tray glass in the microwave cleaning it so this was a no brainer. The best part of this was the PartSelect experience. I ordered the part on the 30th of December and received it on 3 Jan!!! I have used PartSelect before for fridge repair and had the same experience.
cover stirrer fan was burned and sparking in three part even the plastic rivet
just in 1 2 3 step easy way. First unplug the power cord, use a small flat-head screwdriver to pull out the plastic rivet pin, rotate the old cover counter clockwise to removed lift out the blade assembly, install the new cover stirrer fan by first positioning the blade assembly then align the cover and rotate it clockwise to secure, then replace the mounting plastic rivet pin;with the repair completed, plug the power cord back in and your microwave oven should be ready for use again. : )
Spouse looked on line to see what would cause the buzzing noise on the microwave. Then he ordered the parts to the door. It was the door switches. Spouse. Took off the board to get to the switches. Apparently slamming the door on the. Microwave for so many years can cause malfunctions.
We broke the glass plate in the microwave and the rotating ring too
We had an accident on Christmas day, while using the convection option on the microwave, the glass plate and ring assembly slipped down from where it was temporally being stored, and shattered into many pieces.I was really lucky, we had a older GE microwave that we scrapped out. My wife and I decided to keep the glass plate and rotating ring, when we tried the parts it wouldn't turn. I decided to try a new rotating ring considering the glass plate would of cost quite a bit more. When the part came, I tried the ring and as I said I was really lucky, it worked perfectly. The ring from the old microwave made the glass plate sit too high and consequently wouldn't turn. It wasn't really much of a repair, but it all worked out great, the parts site was easy to use and the parts came when they said they would.
Suspected door switch after researching on You tube. (There are three of them). Ordered top switch and removed top vent panel and control panel to gain access. Saw that there were burn marks on the switch where the wire connected to it. Be careful when removing the old switch and installing new as it snaps in and it takes some finesse so you don't break off the retention tabs.....This is the second time I fixed this oven...The first time the door latch spring hook broke so I drilled a small hole to attach the spring into.
I needed to acquire and install a mounting plate for an over the range microwave
I attached the mounting plate to the wall as directed in the installation instructions which I had downloaded from GE. This procedure took 45 minutes to complete. I was then able to mount the microwave.
Followed the instructions on your website and a YouTube video. The diode was at a 90 degree angle which made it a little trickier. Unfortunately the repair did not resolve the problem. I ended up buying a new microwave for temporary use for less than ordering any more parts. We are pleased with your website, instructions, ease of installation though!
1. Removed the plastic rivet holding the stirrer fan cover in place. 2. Slipped a small pry bar under the cover to allow room to grip the cover and pull it out of its setting. 3. Removed the stirrer fan and placed in new cover. 4. Disposed of old rivet and cover. 5. Aligned new cover with rivet hole and pushed it up and into place. 6. The rivet comes in two (2) pieces: the actual rivet and a locking collar. 7. Pushed the rivet locking collar in place and pushed rivet into the collar.
Using some help, removed the above the range microwave. Took apart parts of the microwave to get to the magnetron. Removed existing magnetron, inserted the new magnetron. Put the microwave back together. Tested the microwave to insure the magnetron was working before reinstalling. It did heat. Then reinstalled it back above the range.
